2,900 feet, midway between Tucson and Nogales, Green Valley is rich in historic lore
and blessed with abundant sunshine, more than 300 sunny days a year. The high
elevation frequently assures a much cooler climate than Tucson or Phoenix.

80 degrees during the daytime and 50 degrees at night, making the area a major
attraction for visitors who flock here to enjoy outdoor activities all year

golf courses for a variety of golfers.
Green Valley also has a
nonprofit organization serving the leisure and social needs of the adult
retirement community, Green Valley Recreation, Inc. (GVR). GVR owns and operates
13 recreational facilities.
GVR members enjoy many
drop-in amenities such as fitness centers, basketball, billiards, Bocce,
shuffleboard, horseshoes, tennis, swimming pools, spas and more all available
year-round. GVR also provides activities such as dances, special events, and
concerts, which vary each month. There are 125 special interest classes offered
year and 58 special interest clubs.

Green Valley is predominantly a retirement community with
many community facilities including a library, a bowling alley, 23 heated swimming
pools plus an indoor pool, seven golf courses, shuffleboard, a putting green, a
driving range and tennis courts. Established in 1964 Green Valley is an
unincorporated part of Pima County with three large shopping plazas and a local

Continental School on the road to Madera Canyon offers top
quality K – 8 grade educations. More than 200 clubs and organizations are
represented in Green Valley. Green Valley Recreation has 10 recreation centers.
Facilities include arts and crafts rooms, classes, sauna, sewing room, exercise
room, darkroom, lapidary shop, swimming pools, spa therapy pools, computer
club, billiards and woodworking shop.
